Job Summary:

The HAUV Superintendent is an offshore position and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the fleet of Hovering Autonomous Under Water Vehicles (HAUVs), their operating crews and all associated system equipment owned and operated by PXGEO for the handling of Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN) and other HAUV operations required by the company.

The HAUV Superintendent role encompasses the offshore asset management, maintenance, and rectification of the HAUV and peripheral equipment. Therefore, the position requires the individual to have sufficient competence and experience to be considered the offshore subject matter expert on all technical and operational aspects of the HAUV.

Efficient mission design, production and QC checks is the shared responsibility of the HAUV Superintendent and the Survey team, however HAUV Superintendent will need to verify it has been done correctly within the HAUV system operational and manufacturer limitations.

The ideal candidate for the position of HAUV Superintendent will have a firm and established understanding of electrical / electronic principles, network protocols, computer systems and survey sensors and methodology. Although specific HAUV system training will be given, proven experience supervising AUV / ROV teams during offshore operations will be required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage up to four HAUVs installed on an offshore vessel.
  • Lead, mentor and motivate a team of HAUV Technicians, Supervisors, LARS operators and Deck operators to promote safe and efficient output.
  • Report to Offshore Manager (OM) on the status of team, equipment and maintenance
  • Report to Onshore Subsea Operations Manager and relevant Technical Support Managers regarding the status of systems under your control.
  • Contribute to OMS Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) and maintain a Daily Report (DR) for each HAUV system onboard.
  • Document equipment Maintenance, generate Requisitions and track Purchase Orders within the company Computerized Planned Maintenance System.
  • Identify and propose system improvements to help improve productivity and EHSQ standards.
  • When required, be assigned to a shore base project team for project equipment preparation, testing and attending acceptance tests.
  • Generate, assess and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Procedures.
  • Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPS and generate TRAs when required.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate Mechanical and Electrical system risks and produce relevant documentation.
  • Work to ensure the highest level of availability of the HAUV systems during a project.
  • Participate and when required lead, in the planning and the mobilization and demobilization of equipment onto offshore vessels.

Requirements

  • Offshore experience with UUV, HAUV, AUV or other Electrical ROV/Submersible at a Superintendent or equivalent level.
  • Experience and an understanding of survey sensors would be highly beneficial, including knowledge of INS, USBL, GNSS, CTD, Sonars.
  • Associates, Bachelor’s or Higher in Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics or Electrical Systems Engineering.
  • Competent in using AutoCAD, understands Electronic schematics and able to generate basic Mechanical or Electrical drawings when required.
  • Experienced with Fiberoptics, Low (up to 690V) and High voltage (up to 3kV) systems.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a team and equipment within an extremely fast-paced offshore environment.
  • Knowledge of the relevant physics for offshore operations, including Submersible vehicle hydrodynamics, buoyancy calculations, splash zone forces and corrosion control
  • Competent with Network protocols and Computer systems
  • High appreciation of the EHSQ aspects during Project planning and Offshore operations
  • English is mandatory, verbal and written (Excellent Level)
