What does a software engineer do at Bluetree?

As a software engineer in Bluetree, you will participate in developing the UpStacked network management platform, with a primary focus on backend development in Python and Django. You will get the opportunity to shape the technological direction of the platform and will be involved in the product development process from start to finish. This means working closely with the product owner and users to determine the problem to be solved, collaborating with your team to determine the best approach to solve it, implementing the solution, testing it in collaboration with users, and taking ownership of your work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain the backend API and code infrastructure powering our platform.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the developer team to deliver high quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions to ensure high quality software delivery.
  • Lead user tests and collect feedback from internal users to validate and improve your solution.
  • Keep up to date with relevant new technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

As a member of the innovation team, you will help support the rest of the company by providing tools for them to effectively manage the networks of our customers, including custom tools for automation, network discovery, monitoring, incident tracking and more, all within the same platform. Within our small team of developers, you have the ability to make a big impact, and will be a key player in helping the platform and the team mature and grow.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience as a software developer in Python
  • Bachelor's degree as a software engineer or equivalent education
  • Professional proficiency in English, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with an agile development methodology, like Scrum
  • Professional proficiency in Norwegian
  • Experience working with:
    • Django framework or other MVC backend frameworks
    • Relational databases such as PostgreSQL
    • Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/GKE
    • Network technology
    • JavaScript, React
    • Elasticsearch
    • RabbitMQ, Celery
    • Salt
