We are now looking for an experienced risk controller to join our Risk Oversight team in Oslo.
As a member of the local Risk Oversight team in Norway, you will be connected to the global risk organization as well as exposed to the full palette of our business units in SEB in Norway. About the role
Group Risk is an independent control function reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of SEB Group. We are a team of 3 colleagues locally, with responsibility to identify, assess, measure, monitor and report risks within the Oslo Branch of SEB. The position reports to Head of Risk Oversight in Norway.
Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the implementation of new risk frameworks and ensure adherence to the existing ones. You will also support and advice the business in the understanding of all relevant risks and ensure those are managed in accordance with external and internal rules, as well as international best practices.
You will also be part of a virtual team as we have a close interaction with our colleagues in Stockholm and at other sites. Strong interpersonal skills, an open and flexible mindset and team player mentality is highly valued.
Your main responsibilities will be to
  • Understand the local business profile, both by knowing the business drivers and inherent risks in the business model
  • Understand the SEB Group Risk Frameworks around credit, market, liquidity, and non-financial risks.
  • Understand local regulatory requirements on risk control as well as the impact of regulations and changes thereof.
  • Support the business in understanding their risks and facilitate the identification of new and emerging risks.
  • Support in the preparation of risk reports for local management and Group Risk Oversight.
  • Control and monitor risk limits/tolerances.
  • Escalate potential breaches in accordance with Group Risk Instructions and follow-up of agreed risk reduction measures in the event of limit violations.
  • Assist in ensuring that all business units have sufficient knowledge of the SEB Group Risk processes, tools and reports relevant to their business.
Since a great part of this role is the opportunity to work with the global risk organization and with other branches, this may require travel.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have the following background and qualities
  • A university degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent
  • Previous professional experience in a comparable position.
  • Curious in adapting the latest tech tools.
  • Structured and delivery-focused with high integrity and ethical standards.
  • Persistent, curious and dare to challenge in a constructive manner.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbally in English
  • A proactive mindset with ability to make the right priorities and deliver accurate and effective solutions.
