About the position

The Center for Eye Research and Innovative Diagnostics in the Department of Ophthalmology, Oslo University Hospital, is seeking a highly qualified Health Economist with a PhD degree to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health economics and a keen interest in ophthalmology diseases.
As a Health Economist, you will be responsible for conducting health economy projects specifically focused on ophthalmology diseases.

This position is available at the Center for Eye Research and Innovative Diagnostics (CERID), Department of Ophthalmology, Oslo University Hospital. Department of Ophthalmology has a total staff of nearly 300 employees, 10 operating theatres and 5 clean rooms, a dedicated postoperative unit, and a ward with 15 beds. Most of the surgical procedures are performed as day surgery. The Department has competence in all major fields of ophthalmology, including national, multi-regional and regional functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct economic evaluations of interventions and treatments for ophthalmology diseases
  • Analyze healthcare costs and outcomes related to ophthalmic procedures and treatments
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and researchers to assess the economic impact of ophthalmology services
  • Develop cost-effectiveness models and economic assessments for ophthalmic healthcare interventions
  • Provide expertise in health economics to support decision-making in the Department of Ophthalmology
  • Stay updated on current trends and research in health economics and ophthalmology to inform project development.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Health Economics or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical analysis software
  • Experience in conducting health economic evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses in ophthalmology supported by international peer reviewed publications
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
