Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who will actively code and maintain key parts of our core system, developing new features and improving existing ones. In addition, you’ll contribute to either DevOps or system architecture, depending on your interests and strengths.

Hard skills
Higher education in IT or a technical/scientific field (relevant experience in the energy sector can compensate)
Several years of experience as a software developer
Able to take a feature from concept to production
Proficient in at least one programming language and solid in another - bonus if one of them is Ruby (not a must)
Comfortable working with databases - we use PostgreSQL
Interest in DevOps and/or architecture
Familiar with Git and modern version control workflows
Fluent inEnglish or Norwegian

Who are we?

We are Kraftanmelding - a tech company with offices in Oslo and Porsgrunn. While we’re technically a scale-up and no longer a start-up, we still retain that early-stage spirit. Here, you’ll have real influence, ownership of your work, and the opportunity to contribute across different parts of the product and company.

We’re a small and international team - about ten people full-time plus several dedicated contractors - and our work language is both English and Norwegian, with English as our primary language.

What we do?

We work with power producers across Norway - primarily small-scale hydropower, but increasingly also larger hydro and wind power producers. Today, we provide trading services to around 350 power plants and digital tools to over 600, more than 25% of all power plants in the country.

Our core offering started as customized, automated trading solutions - covering everything from production forecasting and power sales to settlement. Over time, we’ve expanded with additional services, including our own reporting solution used by many in the industry.

Everything we deliver is built in-house, and you’ll have real influence over the solutions you work on. Our core stack is Ruby on Rails , but we also use Python and JavaScript where needed.
