Credit Manager (m/f/d)

(unlimited, fulltime) Join our team at our location in Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, Verl, and Amsterdam – flexible working conditions are available.

Join our international Credit Risk team and help shape the future of financial services. In this wide-ranging role, you’ll perform holistic credit assessments, ensure portfolio health, and contribute to developing efficient, scalable credit processes. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Product, Compliance, and Implementation — balancing risk and growth across our BNPL and financial services offerings.

This position is ideal for credit professionals who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy analytical work, and are naturally curious about improving how things work. You’ll take the initiative, share ideas, and play a key role in evolving how we manage credit risk — working closely with stakeholders across functions to drive smart, scalable solutions.

What will be your challenge?

  • Conduct end-to-end credit assessments and financial due diligence across the client lifecycle.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, detect early signs of distress, and define mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements, automation, and credit risk framework enhancements across regional teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed credit risk requirements into client journeys, systems, and products.
  • Present the credit decisions and recommendations to internal stakeholders and Credit committees.
Benefits:
  • Mobile Office: Opportunity to work from home
  • Discounts & Extras: Exclusive Bertelsmann discounts and financial benefits, e.g., €1,500 referral bonus
  • Flexible Working Hours and Models: Customize your working hours to suit your needs
  • Training & Development: A variety of (online) courses, from language learning to leadership training, e.g., from Bertelsmann University
  • Health & Leisure: Supported sports and (mental) health programs, e.g. from our partner TELUS Health
  • Appreciative Environment: Diversity and employee networks enrich our culture

What you need to have to succeed in the role:

  • 3+ years of experience in Credit Risk or Credit Management within Fintech, Banking, or Payments area
  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis, risk classification, and regulatory frameworks (including KYC/AML).
  • Proven track record in managing credit processes and contributing to digital transformation or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Analytical thinker with strong investigative skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across diverse business functions.
  • Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented — with a hands-on, “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Agile, or Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, VSM) is a plus.
  • Fluency in English. German, Dutch, or a Nordic language is a plus.
