Job Description for the Position :

1. New device/hardware installation in the Data Centre till HCL able to take control.

2. Facilitate break/fix and Install, Move, Add, Change roles simultaneously for IT infrastructure in the Data Centre

3. Server installation which includes transport, Rack mount, patching as per the standard, iLO/iDRAC configuration. Engineer is responsible to provide support until device is remotely accessible.

4. Network switch installation which includes transport, Rack mount, patching as per the standard, initial configuration and console access. Engineer is responsible to provide support until devices is remotely accessible.

5. Assist in network design and workarounds.

6. Perform Power on Self-test (POST) on devices before installation in the Data Centre

7. Provide support on Data Centre devices if they are not accessible.

8. Monthly light checks in the Data Centre and reporting the device issues.

9. Tape insertion & ejection as per agreed days & time and confirm HCL Backup team after completion.

10. Assist in housekeeping data centre and staging areas.

11. Engineer should not disturb/Touch the existing wiring (taking out the connectors) connection while replacing/troubleshooting the network devices in data centre.

12. Document End-To-End connectivity of Devices in the Data Centre. All patches in the Data Centre needs to be documented as per the standard routines.

13. Replacing hot-swappable items in Storage/Switches/Servers, in case of device under OEM support.

14. Ready to provide 24*7 support on rotation basis and willing to work on changes planned after business hours.

15. Provide physical infrastructure layouts/information to the Backend teams.

16. Maintain device location in the Database.

17. Manage FSO related logistics for parts or equipment moving, equipment delivery and receiving.

18. Expertise in Wireless Access points physical installation and troubleshooting issue like connectivity, poor signal etc.

19. Maintain Cold spare of items which can be used during incidents.

20. Decommissioning of IT equipment and disposal as per standard practices

21. Installation of Racks and Rack PDUs in the Data Centre

22. Provide vendor escorts and ensure compliance during the visit.

23. Manage Data centre patching and ensure the cabling standard is followed. All laid patches need to be labelled and documented.

24. Engineer should carry a toolkit, console cable, straight cable& cross cable with a compatible laptop with a COM port (with HyperTerminal software) while attending network issues.

25. Engineer should carry an antistatic wrist band while changing the modules in modular network devices.

Skills, Experience and Qualification Required for the Position :

1. Preferably 2 (3-4+) year experience, with at least 1 year experience working in the Data Centre.

2. Experience in IT Infrastructure in Oil companies is preferred.

3. Ideal candidate would be expected to have a good understanding of IT Infrastructure.

4. Candidate should be well versed in English and the local language.

5. Candidates who can demonstrate local industry knowledge preferably Oil exploration domain and prior experience in a similar role will be preferred

6. Should have very strong written and oral communication skills, and presentation skills

7.Ability to work independently with little day to day support – self starters

8.Flexibility with respect to time – client deliverables need to be met with a Can do attitude

9.A significant travel is expected on the job – hence should be willing to work in such a role.

10.Location of work will be the client offices in the respective geography / location.

11.Education – Qualification – Diploma / Graduate Degree

12.Excellent problem solving / analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools

13.Exposure to Monitoring tools like HP Service Centre, Remedy, Service Now, etc.

14.Basic understanding of IT infrastructure which includes Servers, network, storage, backup, and security equipment.

15.Expertise in patching in the Data Centre. Should be able to plan the patching based on the device connectivity details

16.HP Certified: HP2-T16, HP2-T17, HP2-T19

17.Dell Certified: Dell Power edge and VRTX

18.Cisco certified/knowledgeable: Knowledge of large networked environments with logical and physical understandings

19.Ability to build servers and network devices to order including configuration, installation and provide uplink cabling within designed solutions provided by Statoil via HCL

20. Data analysis and technical documentation skills.

21. Able to critically evaluate incomplete, inaccurate or inadequate instructions that could result in downtime, or degradation of service
