About the position

A temporary position is available as a Specialist Engineer at the Research Section at the Department of Microbiology, Oslo University Hospital.

The position is located in the SINTEF building, where the largest part of the section is now located and is affiliated with the research group of Section Head Hilde Loge Nilsen. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented engineer to support our project investigating the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases using human iPSC-derived models. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mitochondrial assays as well as iPSC culture and neuronal differentiation.

The Department of Microbiology (MIK) at the Department of Laboratory Medicine (KLM), Oslo University Hospital (OUS), has both hospital and university functions. The department is organized into 8 sections: Research; Medicine; Bacteriology; Molecular diagnostics, virology and serology; Development; Control and production; Sample reception and Quality, IT and operational support. The department is integrated with the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Oslo (UiO), with a common line in UiO and OUS.

The Research Section currently consists of 10 research groups and 5 project groups. In total, approximately 90 people from 19 countries work full-time on research. All research groups have a solid national and international network of collaborating research groups. We have weekly seminars with local and international lecturers, an annual conference for the Research Section and weekly group meetings.
